Hi all.

I was wondering if anyone had changed their turbo water lines to something different to the stock set up.

The hardline on mine that is behind the timing 'plate' retained by the water pump is on its last legs. Anyone done anything with a braided line or similar?

Im going to replace the hardline that runs from by the thermostat back to the heater return too - it has a PO JB weld repair.

Any suggestions?

The rubber line lasted 25 years...don't overthink this.

Exactly....Toyota rubber like no other

I agree, but I'm referring to the hardline that runs along the top of the water pump and is burried behind the timing belt plate.

If that pipe lets go then i'll have to tear all the timing gear stuff down to access it. I thought that there might be a cunning alternative that could have read to go should the issue arrise.

Buy a new one. I replace every coolant pipe with OEM during rebuild. I think that one 16028-17010 was $10

Some of these hard lines are surprisingly cheap from Toyota.

I installed the hardline behind the timing case when I rebuilt my HD-T.
I hadn't realised it should have been fitted before timing case.
The line slips into the space ok.
I cut the mounting tab on the hardline to a C shape to slip under the head of the bolt.

To remove the hardline with timing case in place would be more difficult because of the mounting tab bolted behind the timing case. I don't think the bolt would come all the way out. May be possible to cut the tab of place.
