I recently bought a 2006 HDJ100 with 350,000 kms. It is a 1 owner, very well cared for family member. It came with 32 pages of records from Purdy motors (The Toyota dealer in Costa Rica) Everything that can be replaced seemed to have been re[placed except for the water pump. I was under the impression that the pump, idlers etc were changed with the timing belt @150,00 kms. The dealership told the owner that it was fine and seldom needed replacement. What are your thoughts.

Are they the same as the 1HZ water pump? I changed 2 of them, 1 at 250kklms and another at 270kklms.
But they give you a lot of warning. Usually the bush on the shaft begins to leak and you get small droplets from the weep hole when its hot.
I had 3 old 1HZ pumps in my shed and all of them looked perfect except for the weeping.
There is no mention of it needing it to be done in the FSM with the timing belt etc.

Leave it till it needs doing, gives you lots of time to find one at a good price..

Thanks for that.
