No, the 70 series only comes with the single turbo version.

We have the same problem but with with different config, you prolly need 4.1 with those 37"s , 37's are a bit extreme for my use I been through some crazy stuff with 33"s so I cant really relate, I think 37's might need a whole bunch of other stuff to be upgraded
Im in the process of a suspension redesign and am planning around 35's, Im also weary of the low end gearing when off road, Im sure the answer is a slightly longer 5th gear in the H151 , I really dont get what Mr Toy was thinking here I had plenty 5th gear power even before my IC upgrade

Oh don't get me wrong I love the gear box with 4.88's, from 1rst to 4th that is ... Its just 5th gear thats got me. I used too have the same setup with the A442F tranny. I had a much higher top speed, and she sat @ 2400 RPM at 120 KPH. Pretty nice but it was a full-time back then and takeoff was pretty dissapointing. Now I have excellent take off with the manual and part time transfer but a pretty crappy top end.

On many other forums a bunch of guys complain of the same thing. 3000 RPM's @ ~120 KPH, most of the have solved it with bigger boots.

I have aslo heard that the extraoficial version of Toyota for having such a low 5th gear is that since Landies are intended as 4x4 vehicles that the gear box had to be functional both in hi and low range hence the low 5th.

I guess the marketing concept was that whomever wanted a "faster" car or more highway friendly could always go with the auto box. The problem is nobody realizes this until after they've bought the damn thing!

My sentiments exactly:confused:

It is a walbro 6065 which has since been discontinued but the replacement is now available, I just ordered one for my Dads truck

So that makes you the kid in the avatar?

LOL , glad to see you eating your veggies

Actually I've just driven 1000 km and did a little experimenting, Ignoring speed and trying to maintain 2600/2700 revs I got 9.8 km/l on one 260km stretch and 9.1 km/l on another (windy) 350km stretch, so I suppose I could live with an extra 8km/h or so that 35's would give, I will say that it gets quite annoying having impatient drivers on your tail, I had one idiot trying to pass ignoring on coming traffic almost taking all of us out, not fun with the 2 yr old in the car (the one in the avatar)

If this this post looks a bit odd its because I'm on my dodgy mobile which doesn't allow me the traditional mud salute

Both my rigs are pushing 3000 RPM @ 120 KPH ... very frustrating on long trips.

HTH:

1HD-T 4.88 gears H150F tranny 37" tires

1HZ-T Intercooler 4.30 gears R151F tranny 33" tires

Uhuru, youre the man to ask. Youve got both rigs. Which offers the better power set up the way you have them? Youre 105 or your 80?

Im curious as to which motor feels stronger.

The H55 in my HZJ60 has a first gear of 4.84 and an overdrive 5th of .845.

WIth the 4.56 gears and 37" tires my 100klm RPM should be 2150. That should make a great highway cruiser. Especially when I turbo charge her.

Theire are many people that aren't enought inteligent to live here with us .. ;)

I've been drive both Cruisers .. and definately the 80 loos pretty much more stronger .. you feel the kik asss of the turbo ..

And I have a simple andswer to your next question .. the diference is in the engine .. ( yap the 105 it's full time and the 80 right now no but .. ) Direct Injection make the hole diference ..

I really can't say. I defenitely think the 1HD-T has more potential.

But as they are now, the 1HZ is quicker. Even though its fulltime.
