Embarrassed to say that I have yet to swap out the fuel filter on my rig, so it's long overdue. Was looking at purchasing the Toyota OEM filter 23303-64010 .

When I took a look under the hood, it appears to be a Yanmar 119773-55510 filter. So I was wondering if I need to replace with the same, or would I be okay going back to the OEM filter. Any help for recommendation on this one?

No problem. Buy OEM or any reputable brand. I buy Wix 33138 from Rockauto and changed it every year no matter the distance driven.

The Yanmar is an OEM brand as Yanmar buy the engines from Toyota and marinise them. Looking at the Yanmar filter, I suspect it is a Toyota filter rebranded

That should be fine, but a word of caution, look at the top of the old filter, is it recessed or flat the newer housing is made different than the old ones and uses a recessed top filter. If you use an old style filter you will starve the engine of fuel as there is not enough room at the top between filter and housing.

Thanks for the replies. I went with a Wix filter, but have been unable to get the filter off in the engine bay. Looks like I'll have to be removing the whole assembly to get the filter off.

Have you undone the nut underneath?

Is there a physical nut on the bottom to remove? I unplugged one of the wires thats connected to the bottom, but didn't physically remove it the cap on the bottom. I was following the instructions in this video and did not see him remove any nut on the bottom.

Are you just trying to remove it by hand? I always need to use an oil filter strap type wrench to remove mine. Only hand tight when I put it on, but no way I'm getting it off without the strap wrench. Similar to what is used in the video you posted above.

My mistake. I was confusing it with another filter I had to remove recently.

Yep, trying to remove it with an oil filter strap but its not budging. Plus the whole unit is giving a little, so it looks like I'll have to remove it and then put it on a vise.

PO has done it up way to tight. Like oil filters, a good strong hand turn is all they need.
