Just recieved a call about a problem that just started when the temps dropped over the last week.

Problem is he cannot accelerate past 45MPH, seems to be struggling.

He runs bio in the engine, very high quality that runs fine in his wifes diesel volkswagon.

My guess was the tank and lines were scrubbed of all debris and the filter is slightly plugged?

I had also installed a fuel pressure regulator and set it I think around 2PSI.

Could the fuel and cold lines be slowing throught the regulator??

Looking for some ideas, thanks.

Rob

Rob:

I think you are on the right track.. All of the reading I've done on bio indicates that it will scrub out your fuel system, and that you should be prepared to change fuel filters a few times..

Thanks Jim, pretty sure thats the problem also.

"Changed out the filters three times, still pursitant run issue for the first 10 minutes until warm, then it runs fine?

I sugessted a good inline heater as they are in a colder region.

Any ideas??

Doesn't his engine have the fuel heater on the fuel filter housing? It could be inoperative, or the fuel is gelling in the incoming fuel line. He may have to thin out his bio with kerosene for reliable performance in winter, even regular diesel is thinned out in winter.
