whats up guys,

my LC got stuck in the sand a couple of months ago and got saltwater up to the roof ... I've fixed pretty much everything on it but need the gauge bezel AKA gauge cluster, instrument panel, gauge panel .... you know what I mean....

so the dealer here doesn't have it and neither do any of the junk yards .... so my question is could I replace it from one off of a FJ80?

my rig is a 96' fulltime HDJ80L-GNPEX ... it is an auto with a A442F tranny and ABS so basically it is the same thing as the US spec 96' FJ80 ...

does anybody know if this would work? any insights are greatly appreciated...

That looks different then mine.
Mine has a green and red light for the turbo where yours has a T-belt light - and that other light.
Whats the other light to the right of the t-belt light?

Mine also has the following order for the gear indicator.
P-R-N-D-3-2-L

Greg of www.gscruiserparts.com might be able to get one.
But it would probably be out of a older (90-91?) parts truck .

the light next to the T-belt is the turbo light .... I don't know what has to fail in the turbo to trigger it ... or what it is giving a warning for .... luckily it has nevver come on :D

your turbo light I believe comes on every time the turbo spools up past ~2,000 RPM ?

I'm also guessing you have the A440 tranny with no overdrive .... which is why you have the option of selecting gears up to third which would translate to me driving with the O/D off ...

I'll try GSparts... thanks .... any other place in your neck of the woods ... hell I'm willing to pay for a new one if I could find it .... would a Canadian Toyota Dealership have access to HDJ80 parts ... I know the US ones don't ....

Greg would probably be your best bet.
But you could also try Wayne at www.luxuryimports.ca

I am not sure about my turbo light going green after 2000rpm.
Do you mean 2000rpm on the turbo or engine?
My green light will come on at about 1400rpm on the engine.
Depeneds how much fuel I am using. If my foot is in it, it will come on earlier.

My truck does have the overdrive. I just can also pick 1st, 2nd and 3rd manually.

I didn't want to step on anybody's toes though, hence I said "IF...." ;)

As you know the JDM cluster looks a little different, but if you can give me the exact part number (and you want one new) I might be able to help you locate the one you need (or if the JDM one is a direct swap, then that's just as good).

yap is fine .. and in fact I love this light .. more than mine cluster panel only have one light, that it ambar when the turbo wornut .. so hopefully as Tito never see.

Your light comes onm when you turbo start spooling hard at 1400, so at 1800 you have a full turbo, :D

I love em ! ( turbo engines .. ! )

Is yours Right or Left Hand Drive (although I don't think it actually matters for the cluster as I think it is symetrical.

If so and you can't source one elsewhere, I am going to pickup some new Diffs from a late 95 IHD-T breaker and it may have one left on it that I could get for you.

I got a dashboard cluster gauges from an FJ-80 in Davis (California) for my 1991 HZJ-80 (UN-spec). Everything works fine... I just have to get a new injection pump to send signals for the tachometer, as well as a real oil pressure sender (instead of the stock "idiot" oil pressure sender)... had to put appropriate red stickers on the tachometer as the 3FE has a different redline than my 1HZ.

Thanks this is what I needed to hear ....

I found one in the states that came from a FJ80 that has the same tranny as mine so I'm hoping it works!!!

I'm wondering why your injection pump doesn't work with your new Tachometer ....

is it the pulse?

or do FJ80's take the reading from the coil?

I'm really not sure which way to go right now and wouldn't want you to waste time for me to back out later ....

But, if you're there take a look at it and let me know how much they are asking for it .... I do need the donor to have had the A442F tranny and an electronic Speedo

OK no problem. I'm not sure on the Tranny - it's a UK spec VX auto, would have had the electronic speedo though.
 
I'm almost positive that the '95 vx auto came with a A442F ....

The injection pump on my HZJ-80 doesn't have a sender for the rpm signals. That's I ought to get another one, new or from a scrapyard.

I have the guage cluster, it's from a 94 with A442F transmission. The guy only charged me £10 for it so I took it off his hands. If you want it I could find out what the shipping is then plus the £10 it's yours.

Well, for whatever it's worth, Drexx, I can tell you a 1HZ tach does not work with a 3F, neither does a 13BT tach. OTOH, Herb Peyerl has made a 1FZFE tach work with a 1HZ by making some converter, but then he understands electronics.
