Just reading on the net about my engine .. I read that the CT26 turbo is watercooled .. but don't seems to be right for me .. that true . ?

Yes, even the CT26 installed in Supras and GT4 Celicas. Water and oil cooled.

Good to know that, I keep in my mind the turbo timer idea .. is needed in this water colled aplications .. ? so I didn't have one yet .. but awiting at least one min before shut off the engine .. city driving .. and at least 5 min on wight way driving . that's right . ?

The idea behind letting your engine idle for a while at destination before shut off is that the Turbo is much hotter than the engine and needs to be given a bit of time to cool off to engine temp. The turbo timer is supposed to make this easier because you can activate the timer, switch off and the engine will continue to idle for the time you set even as you have already locked your vehicle and left it.

I only use my turbo timer after a long highway journey. City driving for me has so many stop and go's that I doubt my turbo gets very much time to get hot.

Also because the engine is not running there is no oil or water circulation so the already hot oil can actually cook on the turbo as it is so hot and build up a glaze over time. eventually this kills both the bearings and the seals. I just don't switch off the engine and let it idle for a while if I have been running high speed for a while (which doesn't happen very often here in the really congested UK).

Yup, normal day here we have a lots of hard traffic and so I can't drive more than 40km/h .. so for example I left late a meeting yesterday, handled well fast (everything what could) to house, I was delayed like about 15 minutes, clear making high in the traffic lights. when I arrive to my home leave my 80 at idle about 2 - 3 min to let the turbo cool down ..

when it was arriving at house obvious rather perhaps I lowered to the speed a minute before entering my parking

Tha's too much . ? I'm paranoic .. !

no.

seems good.

but I think the previous owner may have driven it normal like a gasser, so the harm if done may have already happened. You never know how the previous owner treated the truck.

But it can't hurt to idle if you have been boosting at highway or at fast speeds. for a min or two.

Probably more than needed, but more is better in this case. I generally find also that it is better to slow down a bit before arriving at my house, don't want to replace the garage just yet:D :D

maybe .. But I buy this 80 series further more than looks good and rare lights in teh front bumber .. this engine have a totally ( I hope ) good overhaul and Turbo rebuild :D

So I try to keep it all fine that I can .. good oil and often changes .. and off course the most important thing to me .. when is cold let it under 1,800 rpm before get normal operative temp.
