1HD-T advance timing

Anyone advanced their timing on their 1HD-T? The adjustment screw is just underneath the ACSD. I have heard that the timing is set fairly conservative from the factory and can use a bit of advance.

I'm a little confused though as to whether you increase or decrease the timer timer piston stroke to advance the timing. The FSM assumes you know...
