Does anyone know the difference between the 90915-30002 and the 90915-30002-8T engine oil filters?
Thanks....this is my first post
Ern

Welcome!

Tell us about your rig!

As previously mentioned I wrote to Denso but they said they could not comment, I haven't gotten round to writing to toyota yet. I am about to purchase 10 x 90915-30002 for myself while they are still available. The 8T models may have changed due to the lower sulphur in the diesel now, so less soot I believe, however I think most changes these days are a compromise, cheaper etc, so I will stay with the old one until we can find out if the 8T is better.

I believe cutting the cans open is the only way to get an honest answer to your question.

90915-30002 made in Japan

NomadsUsR, the difference between 90915-30002 and 90915-3002-8T is that the 8T is made in Thailand. whereas, the 90915-30002 is made in Japan.:) actually, here in our country the Toyota dealer does not have the Japan Made oil filter and i have to order it personally from Japan.:flipoff2:

Unfortunately, as noted in the links in this post, the country of manufacture is not the only difference!

I looked at them with great interest, but did not see any cut-off pictures from the standard filter, just from the Thailand filter. What are the differences?

Thanks!!! The old and new don't look that different, except for the bottom element... Any opinions?

Another aussie, welcome to Mud m8, sorry can't help with the filters. But tell us about your rig along with some pics!

Thanks fellas for your replies. Yes the 8T reveals the filter is made in Thailand. I can get a aftermarket Sakura Japan brand made in Indononesia for AUD$20. I wonder if there is any real difference in performance.

My rig is a common or garden 2004 GXL 4.2LTD manual, bog standard white. I use it to tow a 3+ tonne off-road caravan.
Fitted hardware is:-
100 watt Codan NGT HF radio with 9350 auto tune antenna.
Icom UHF CRS radio
NextG mobile phone 6db antenna and hardware.
Garmin GPS
TJM Alloy roof rack.
2 rear view cameras. one looking down to show around car rear and assist in hooking up and one showing road behind. Also have one on the back of the caravan. All viewed with a dash mounted LCD 100mm(5 inch) monitor.
Small dash mounted LCD voltmeter which monitors auxiliary battery volts and also house batteries in the caravan.
40 litre Engel fridge.
Blue tongue air compressor
Turbo timer
Digital Exhaust Gas Temperature gauge.
+300 KG OME rear springs with Poly Air Bags. I have wound up the torsion bars to give a 30mm lift to the front.
Tekonsha Prodigy electric trailer brake controller.
Hayman Reese 3 and half tonne tow bar.
ARB steel bull bar with ARB driving lights.
I carry a Honda EU20i 2 kw generator.

I recently fitted a D'tronic engine chip. Haven't tried it towing yet so am yet to see if the $1600 investment is worth it.

cheers all

FYI, the latest issue of LC mag shows spy shots of the '08 LC 78 long base troopy and 4-door mid-base. The troopy looks the same w/a refreshed front grille but the mid-base 70 looks like a cross between a 70-series Prado and hilux surf. It also has as factory snorkel. Both come w/ 4.5L V8 twin turbo's.

The vehicles were released in March in OZ, without going to toyotas website IIRC they are only single turbo, approx 150 kW and 430Nm, approx the same as the existing (previous)turbo diesel 6 cylinder in the 100 series. Rumours say the 200 series release will be approx November with a twin turbo 600+Nm and 230+kW from the same engine.
