1fze coolant leak, real time

I'm home for the weekend and have a significant coolant leak on our 95.

The leak seems to be on the lower left side of the engine, behind the starter and about 4-6" forward of the belhousing. I can't get a direct line of sight to the source, but it seems like there may be some block sensors there. I don't want to just start taking things apart. My wife needs the truck this week and I have AF stuff to do.

It's the heater hose. Short piece of hose under the intake. Search PHH

I wondered that too, but was told only the 3fe has that, not the 1fze. I'll go try to look again.

Reverse that. only the 1fze has that. Take the front drivers tire off and crawl through wheelwell and look up and try to see it..

Yep. I did the complete bypass using some green gates stuff. Have fun

Thanks Jerry, I'll let you know. the 80 is in the barn in case of rain, but I'm off to go get hose, clamps and coolant.

Got the green silicone hose and heavy clamps. I have the outer stock hose clamp off and proceeded to whack my left funny bone on the left knuckle and rotor. I'm taking a break. I may feel my hand again in a bit...Glad the kids aren't in the barn.

got the old hose off. now I don't want to feel my left arm. Wish me luck getting the new hose on without bending the hard heater line.

I'm going to bypass the hardline with a longer section of regular hose. This will be as temporary as time allows for a diesel swap.

CAUTION ! watch out for your AC liquid line if you go bending the top of that pipe around. I knocked a hole in mine when I tried to do the PHH. In fact I am right now putting it back together and just got on here to look at a diagram.

Thanks for the heads up. I was able to move the old metal line enough for a bypass. It leak checked good, but I didn't know about the AC line. I'll have to check on that if I'm ever to coax the AC to function. We have never had it work in the two years of owning the truck.

Yeah, I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get pressure on mine. Then, I finally found the hole, revenge of the PHH I guess.

The PHH is not that bad really. Just time consuming. I did mine and the top heater hoses in a morning.
