The engine functions exactly the same (at least it should) whether the truck is moving or not. Watching a gauge is much safer when standing still than at 65+mph on a public road...

Agreed, I hadn't thought of reving the engine until I responded. I will try and check it this week. The engine functions exactly the same (at least it should) whether the truck is moving or not. Watching a gauge is much safer when standing still than at 65+mph on a public road...
Likely bits from the chain guides, they are plastic and don't last forever. In the past three days I replaced the oil pump cover seal, front crankshaft seal, and the oil level sensor seal. I also changed the oil and filter. This was the first oil change since I purchased the cruiser. The previous owner said he put in Mobil 1 synthetic and it had a small Toyota oil filter. I used Mobil 1 synthetic 5W-30 and a small Toyota filter. Maybe it was due to torquing the harmonic balancer to the correct torque, or because the seals were that far gone, but after changing all of these seals the oil pressure increased. It still dropped down low one time while driving, then came back up. After changing the oil and filter, the oil pressure increased some more and it no longer dips down while driving or decreases while the engine is under load. During the oil change I dropped the lower oil pan and found bits of brown rubber in the pan as well as stuck in the oil pickup screen. Maybe old FIPG? I cleaned out the screen and the pan and resealed the pan. I haven’t verified with an external oil pressure gauge, but it seems like my gauge is working fine.
