Great visit with Ian and Michael at the shop.

Spent some quality time breaking bread and got a chance to meet some local cruiser heads and say hi to an oldie like Eric (@ginericLC ) and Adam (formerly of Torfab).

Got some eyes on John’s truck, identified areas of upgrade, areas that need overhaul and some other things as well.

This truck is going to be spectacular.

Thanks to Ian and Michael for having me stop by and check things out. Ian and Michael are rocking and rolling. :)

Thanks to John for giving me the ok to go up and set eyes on the collective project.

Back on the road again!

Old are hard as a rock, new are nice and soft.

@Onur glad you were able to lay eyes on the truck! The truck is certainly headed in the right direction.

Components ordered today for the second battery setup. Have some nice Redarc parts on order as well as a second Odyssey battery.

Just waiting on Equipt1 to get back to be on that National Luna fridge.

The Morel speakers also showed up this afternoon. This is a 6.5” component setup that includes some mid range speakers. If the 6.5s work in the rear doors we are going to get another pair for the front doors. If they wont fit then we will try to find something a little smaller. But these are pretty low profile so I am optimistic.

Also got in some pretty cool little Baja Designs lights. These are going to be fashioned in the cargo area for lighting. More to come on that later.

Here is the ad for the LRA fuel tank:

Now the fun begins...at least a lot of it is labeled.

Going to try and get 2nd battery in the standard location. I think it will work with a few adjustments.

Looking good @SNLC. Very nice progress.

Any HAM’s out there reading this and got some antenna recommendations? I’m going to use an ICOM 5100 unit. I like the setup that @Overland Tailor used on his truck and may just default to that - but would like to see if anyone else had any ideas. The truck is pretty much a blank slate at this time. Anyways....shoot me a PM if you do.

Can go a lot of directions with that. But I like my Comet with /NMO base. I used the Diamond mount on the hatch. The Comet I have isn't foldable like the link, but some friends have that one and works fine.

Diamond Mount

Alright. Been a busy week of parts buying.

There is a HAM radio outlet order showing up today with @SNLC. I opted to get a couple different Comet and Diamond mounts (NMO bases) as well as a couple different antennas (Comet/Pulse Larsen). Will see what we like and what we do not like.

A big order from @sleeoffroad for DBA rotors, pads and stainless steel lines.

Another big order from Crutchfield went in for speakers. Will be running some 6.5 shallow speakers in the rear doors as well as a Morel subwoofer in the rear factory location. Some amps and other odds and ends as well. Should have a really nice audio system.

Crutchfield is very good. If you call them they will spend however long it takes on the phone to get you are dialed in and configured. Not to mention their stuff usually shows up real fast.

We got tweets going in the dash, 6.5" 2-ways going in front doors, 6.5" components going in rear doors, 3.5" mids in upper cargo and 10" sub in rear panel. All Morels. We got a JL Audio amp for speakers and another for the sub. John already has a nice Pioneer head unit in the truck. :)

So here is the main difference between the two.

This is the 440.

Here is the 343

The 343 cover is in really nice condition, the 440 not so much. I can easily mover the 440 portion we need for the shifter over to the 343, that is kind of the plan right now. But we really need a nice 440 shifter selector. Ours has the common bubbles and ugliness.

So before doing more work on it we are exploring our options and what we can find.

Cheers
