Well, I spent this past weekend tearing into the dash. Now I get to clean all this sand and dust out......

No, that's what started this rabbit hole! I replaced the compressor clutch bearing naively hoping that would take care of my problem. No go. So I just decided to go through the whole system. Now I just have to get it back together before I forget where everything goes 😜

While I have it out, I did a little refurb on the gauge cluster. I swapped out the bulbs for LED's, painted the needles and replaced the glass. My particular cluster has 15 bulbs.
Here is the paint I used for the needles and the bulbs I used from Super Bright LED's. The 194's are the large bulbs and the 74's are the smaller.

194-GCOB1W (Green) 4 req.
194-NWCOB1W (Nat. White) 3 Req.
74-GHP (Green) 1 Req.
74-NWHP (Nat. White) 7 Req.

That original glass ain't bad. Mine looked like someone sprayed oil on it in 2004 and never cleaned it. It was so bad.
Ha, that's actually a used replacement glass I put in to replace the original one that was much worse. I couldn't find a new glass at the time, so I settled for that one which isn't too bad. But I found a new one, so no more scratches (for now..;)

Since I have the dash out, it was pretty obvious it was time to replace what was left of the speakers.....

I'm eventually going to get the door speaker pods, but in the meantime I installed these 4" JL Audio speakers. I swapped the brackets over from the old speakers to the new ones. I did have to use spacers to keep the speakers from rubbing against the dash, but it was a very simple swap.

Replaced the heater core and o-rings. I used 19mm (o.d) x 15mm (i.d.) x 2mm thick o-rings and added some Toyota FIPG for extra protection from leaks.
