Hey Mudders, its been awhile. My beloved :frown:baby has a cracked radiator. Where is best and cheapest place to get another one? I see thrm all over various site, but I know nothing of quality. How much is a good new radiator for my 1997 40th ????

THANKS!!!!

I got a Koyo 1918 for $211 shipped on ebay.

Received it today. Is in a Koyo box and the Rad has a Koyo tag on it so I guess it's the real deal.

That was the cheapest I found. There were 2 ebay vendors selling them at the same price. I got mine through xcessmotors.

Good luck.

Post up a picture or two.

Sorry to here it was time to replace but better to have it done than blow the head gasket.

Koyo rads have been talked about in other threads so I went with a C1917 from Auto Cool in TN. $315 and free shipping. Those guys were great and even called me to follow up the day it shipped. Ask for Tom.

I just installed it today. It fit perfect and looks good. No more pinkish crust all over under the hood. The rad I pulled out was a CSF. I don't know how many miles are on it but my '95 has 238k.

Thanks for all the input. I now have something to use as a reference

I've been very happy with the rad I got from napa! I paid about 225.00. Looking at the factory rad next to the one from napa, I couldn't find any difference between the two, other than the ink stamp that said Toyota and the part number.

when you replace your radiator with an all metal radiator like the Koyo C1918 does that mean you can also switch to green antifreeze and eliminate the OEM red?

thanks,

devo

If you want a cheep one get a cheep one, I second getting the brass/copper from Cdan if you are going to keep your rig for 10 more years.

I was running Toyota red before with the copper CSF and refilled with Red again with the new copper Koyo. I don't have experience with Green.

well keeping this radiator thing going do i dare bring up Quality! what's the difference in how they're built:
Koyo, all metal C1917 for @$355.00
Oem Toyota CDan for @ $500.00

chime in....

AFAIK the non-OEM Koyo is made in Indonesia, is the Toyota part still made in Japan?

Anyone know why Toyota changed to the plastic tank style radiator??

...and are there any draw backs to pulling a "good" radiator out of a junk 1994 and having a radiator shop bring it up to snuff?

Used OEM $75.00
Reconditioning @$150.00

devo

Was it only the 93-94 US spec 80 series trucks that had the all metal radiators??
