Morning gang,
New(ish) to the site.
I bought the Land Cruiser below from Japanese Classics in Richmond, VA back in July. It was purchased with 69K original miles and only the wear, tear & love that comes with a 27 year-old vehicle.
I've got some plans for her, but wanted to get some original photos posted first.
First line of business was a nose-to-tail inspection/catalog of all drive train, frame, suspension and ancillary system health. Other than, replacing old, cracked hoses & vac lines, and an impending knuckle job up-front in the next 15-20k miles, everything seems to be in good working condition.
I'll update this thread as the build progresses.

Look forward to see this build, Love the truck! I've been looking for a HDJ81 and saw Japanese Classics, did you have a good experience with them? I've been eye balling this one: 1992 Land Cruiser 4.2TD – Japanese Classics - https://www.japaneseclassics.com/vehicle/1992-land-cruiser-4-2td/ but I really want a post 95 for the 1HD-FT. I'm in NY but the drive down is still better than waiting to ship on over.
Just now seeing this - apologies! Had a great experience with the Japanese Classics guys.

I’ve made a few road trips to south Texas to dove hunt in it already - no issues after I replaced the AC condenser (they told me about the problem prior to purchase).

I’ve got some build updates coming…

Here are some pics after installing the following:
Dobinson’s 2.5” rear, 1.75” front lift kit
35” Goodyear wrangler a/t on 18” method 305s
3” stainless turboback exhaust from PPD

you can notice how aggressive the rake is. I’d like to fix that if y’all have any pointers.

what you can’t see in the picture is the noticeable drivers side lean. I was reassured (twice) that the longer springs are on the drivers side.

more to come!

These 4 pics include last weeks projects.

Coastal Offroad front & rear bumper w/ tire carrier.
PDI front mount inter cooler & trans cooler
painted the grill
Delta vehicle systems center console & shifter console
Kenwood factory replacement radio

I opted to go no bull bar so as to not obstruct the fmic too much. You can notice the drivers side (it’s the) lean in the first pic. Kinda driving me nuts!

Thinking I may have the lean fixed! Just need to get her off the alignment rack and I’ll have pics to follow…

Awesome rig and love the updates! I'm waiting for a similar 95 to arrive on a boat. Should be picking her up in early December.

What floor mats are those and do you like them? I'm having trouble finding any source for RHD all-weather mats.
I've been looking at both Coastal and 4x4 Labs for rear bumper. What made you choose Coastal?

They’re floor mats from cruisercorps. They don’t make rhd, so I just flipped them upside down and switched the sides they’re on.
I chose the Coastal bumpers cause my bro in law has them on his Tacoma and likes them.

Finally got around to doing the head light upgrade to the JTXs. Tracking down the dual square brackets was a bit of a bitch, and I’m going to have to have my condenser line re routed (again).

Had a floppy passenger visor that needed some TLC.

After doing some digging online I found these Rosen sun visors. The install was super easy - fit right back into the stock mounts, but I’m blown away by the build quality on these visors.

It’s hard to tell in these pics but the mounting brackets are cnc machined and powder coated aluminum w/ more articulation than you could ask for.

Update - currently selling two OEM visors from a ‘95 HDJ81 if anyone’s interested :p

Quite possibly my favorite mod to-date. I removed all of the trim pieces from the front headlights and the grill and sent them to a powder coater. I had rattle canned my grill previously, but it looked like dog s***. I’m stoked. I can’t honestly think how I could improve the front end from here other than a mesh satoshi grill, which I’m not 100% sold on.
