I messed up the throttle cable nuts while changing the valve cover gasket. I am following the fsm but I can't seem to get it right. Can someone share how to do it properly in a super dumbed down way please.

I've adjusted the little stopper end thing in and out trying to get it right but it just ends up not shifting or slipping gears.

If you're able to share at what rpm/speed you shift gears?

If you're able to share a picture of your throttle cable would be awesome

Please help this rookie diy Mackey mouse Mechanic.

Pic is on my old 80.
My newer 80 this is what I did
1. I took my cable off
2. Pulled it gently until I felt resistance.
3. Marked the cable right where is goes into the sheathing
3. Installed it and tensioned it until I saw the mark I made.

There is just a tiny tiny bit of slop in it. It moves almost instantly with the throttle. It shifts great with no first hesitation or slipping.

Thank you! I'll try that and let you know how it goes.
