Hi fellow cruisers, I have a 1993 FZJ80 and I am replacing by alternator belts with oem toyota belts. I have the alternator loose and it easily slides up and down. The issue is the belts do not go on without using a small pry bar and clicking over the engine to get the belts on. This does not feel right. The alternador looks to have been replaced recently and I don't know if it is an OEM alternator. Any suggestions?

That looks just like mine. I cannot say thank you enough. You are the best.

It's a common mistake. In the automotive world it is very rare that a belt (or belts) are NOT routed over an idler pulley. So its sort of counter intuitive to see it that way on the 80 series. But that's how Toyota wants it done.

Anyway, you're good to go now.

Cheers!
