Hey everyone, been in the market for an LC for a while now, mostly 100 series, but I finally have enough saved and came across this beautiful FJ80. Owner has kept it in great condition, installed new front seats, and some other cool mods. Original interior is intact for 2nd and 3rd rows.

Seller is asking $10K for it. He's fixed or replaced all of these things (+ mods):

New AC system
New water pump
New spark plugs + wire set
New belts + hoses
New battery
new starter
roof rack
off road lights
Jack, snorkel, and jerry can

Test drove it and man is it a beauty. Engine felt strong, transmission shifted smoothly, and no noises. All electronics work, even the sunroof. Has 210K on the meter.

I asked the owner if he knew of any front knuckle or berfield joint servicing in the past, he said no.

Car fax is clean and PM's have been timely for most of its life.

What is a fair price for this LC, and as my first dive into LC's, is this a good rig, or should I try and find something safer for the long term?

Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

This is suspect. Are you sure it has a 3F-E? Do you have any pictures of the engine bay?

Will upload pics in a bit, LTE not letting me.

I don't know off hand, and I will take pics of the engine bay when I go take a look again.

Will find out if 3F-E or not.

It is a 3FE, and by strong I meant it ran well for a 26 year old engine, not strong as in power (which these don't have much of haha)

I was mostly being facetious but the 3F-E is a very clicky motor. That is a very high price but prices are all over the place on these things in 2017.

I see what you mean. it was clicky as you put it, but for an engine it's age I figured it was normal, and now that you mention it, clicky is the perfect word to describe it.

I'm going to try a knock the price down a bit, but I haven't been able to get an accurate gauge of where the 80's fall price wise.

Seems high for a 91. The ones I see in the PNW are usually around 3-4 for similar miles. If you are willing to fly and drive you can probably pick up a locked 93-97 for 10k.

All USDM FJ80s were unlocked with semi float drums.

Toyota hates the US

So it does have a center locking diff and drums, but seems its been pointed out already.

If I'm unable to knock it down a bit think I'll have to pass, its in fantastic condition and runs great, but 10K for 91 seems high.

Thanks all, will still upload pics later today.
