This truck has been a joy to own however I have found myself in need of a pickup again and so sadly, I have to sell it. When first arrived in Canada I had extensive PM work done by ATEB (land cruiser specialists) in Burnaby to ensure its reliability. Some of the work includes BEB’s, timing belt+ tensioner, All fluids flushed and replaced with premium oils, Tie Rods, front and rear bearings, belts, brakes, wheel alignment, valve clearance. I will be happy to pass on the receipts since 1991. I have taken excellent care of the truck as the previous owner in Japan. It has been used as a daily commuter and out on a few fishing trips. Never abused or been 4X4ing. It comes with 5 factory rims and tires . Must see

It even had a winch to boot. The only time I would bring in another HDJ81 is with lockers and a winch.
Heck I figure any landcruiser I will ever bring in will have to have Lockers in the sense they are desirable when it comes time to sell them.

lockers can also save abuse if used properly. lower abuse = lower maintainence costs.
but a heavy foot and lockers can also = large repair bills.

I think I paid closer to 16k for mine, been almost 3 years now and I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning....

But yah, it's been flawless, well except for the IP pump rebuild.

Ive had it for sale for a week now. Ive posted on kijiji and craigslist in BC and Alberta, local classifieds, and parked infront of a busy street with for sale signs on it here in Kelowna. I have yet to have one call on it. Too many ford lovers in this town.....haha. I expected it to go quickly since it is in such nice condition and i think your posts have confirmed my low price. Im not one of those guys who are dreaming when trying to get top dollar for there trucks (one guy in the lower mainland is advertising his for $25,000 right now) I always keep my vehicles in top condition and sell them for below what their worth. Usually have them gone within a week. I guess 81's are not on the masses buy list like a tacoma. Oh well, im sure it will sell and in the meentime Im going to enjoy every last moment drivin her.

I saw a white HDJ81 VX Limited with 5 speed, factory winch and triple locked a couple of years ago for sale. It appeared to be in mint condition. They were asking $25K for it. That's twice what I paid for mine without elockers. There's no way I could justify spending that kind of coin on a nearly 20 year old truck though.

No it wasn't that one I was thinking of. The term "White Knight" comes to mind. I can't remember which importer was selling it. The one I'm thinking of had a lift and bigger tires on it, among other things.

Nice truck, my only regret on mine is it didn't come with some cool cruisin decals or some large 70s multi color body decaoration like a lot of the hilux pick ups I see. I love that stuff, next one will have that for sure. I'm a mouse to the cheese.

Yeah theres something about it that I like too.
I really like the 60's and 70's like that.
Waynes CRUISING 81 ruled. I fell in love with that truck at first sight.

you must have pretty deep pockets.
me, i liked the decals but everyone that came to look at the truck complained about them. after 3 months and many 'visitors' i had them removed ($3000 final bill) and the truck sold 2 weeks later.

i liked the truck overall, one of the cleanest i have had.
