Im looking at buying a 1991 FJ80 complete front axle off of this forum, but ive got a few questions. I know this axle has no locker, but could i drop an ARB straight into it? Also, is it the same as the newer FZJ80 axles in terms of axleshaft and birfield strength? What are the main differences between a 1991 front axle and a 1996-7 front axle. Thanks

They went from 15" to 16" wheels, so I imagine the rotors are larger. Not sure about calipers. Diff will be the same. 91 didn't have ABS, so it won't have ABS rings on the birfields. Axles should be the same.
The inner axle shafts are the same, as is the non-locker diff chuck. The birfields are different and so are the knuckles and all the brake related components. The spindles are the same. The housing is different (provisions for attaching ABS wiring).
