Not mine. Let’s play a game - post your bet on final sale price. I say $26,350. What say you? :steer:

Seems like cruisers never do very well on BaT but I love those pickups. Always wanted a FJ75. My bet is it doesn’t meet reserve if it has one. BaT seems to be more for sports cars than cruisers.

I say $18,500 but it will not hit reserve. Bet the reserve is in the mid 20s. There have been some strong sales on BAT this month already but I don't think this one will be one of them.

From the comments: "The body frame and interior were completely restored"..........yeaaaaaah......OK.

No documented service history, shady details about the mileage, and a shady replacement of a speedo cable because it was "rusty" looking?

Not a top example of a 70 series pick up.

Agreed. Also a repaint and Venezuelan truck. Which had the Dana 60 rear end. And tend to be resprayed turds.

I'm also local and seller refused to let me come look at it in person.

No worse sign than that!

I should clarify - Seller actually said, "I don't think BaT allows in-person private views of vehicles." I don't think that's true about BaT.

But it's not a good sign either way. Typically straightforward sellers are eager to get someone to look at a vehicle in person.

Not necessarily. Given the circumstances, I know I wouldn't want people coming to look at a vehicle. I have seen numerous other classifieds that say the same thing.

That said, proceed with caution, lots of horror stories about C and S American "resto" workmanship.

Good point. Given the current circumstances, seller may not want to interact with anyone.

Of course you can go look at the car for sale....no matter BaT, craigslist, eBay whatever.

If the seller is stand off ish, run.

I wasn’t as familiar with BaT. They have a protocol for communicating with the seller directly. I didn’t know if they allowed private showings for vehicles, since it is so online focused.

However, they do. And I intend to look at the truck if it’s available.

I should have updated this thread earlier, I've just been busy with my own BaT auction.

I went to look at this truck yesterday since I'm local in Austin. It was your typical South American truck and I'm not sure I'd pay $25k for it. It had a "spray and pray" paint job. Coolant leak. Oil leak. Fuel hoses were cracked/failing. The killer for me was the bed swap (truck was originally a flat bed). They hadn't bothered to attach the bed to the frame. Bed also appeared to be cobbled together. The entire bed floor was diamond plate. I also don't think the bedsides are correct. I just wouldn't pay a premium for this particular truck.

Ignore the floating bed. Look at the muffler hanger.

Sold for $25,000 hammer price. I wasn't far off with my guess!

@Arizona Jeff - You were really close with your prediction. What do you think my 1983 Pickup on BaT will fetch?

Automobile Mag did a feature story on it. Hopefully that generates some exposure!

Hmm I wouldn't call 25K "premium" for a lhd 70 series pick up . I do agree on not paying 25k for that one but a nice clean solid one fetches way more then 25k these days.

You’re right. I should have said - I would be willing to pay $25k for a LHD 70 series pickup, just not this one.

Edit: I’d pay $25k for this one all day.

For Sale - !!PRICE DROP!! 1997 FZJ75 Pickup - LHD - AC - Power Everything

Arguably more bumps and bruises than the OP, but a better buy IMHO. I actually like the patina. Adds character.

Nice pickup - 83 is a great year
Pros - color, clean interior, nice condition for the year
Cons - no power steering or A/C,
$15,200 is my prediction.
Best of luck I hope you get much more. I almost bought this one before getting my fj75 pickup. I bid it to $22k, hammer price was $25k. It was super clean, PS, A/C. Darn near showroom but the paint job was not.
