SOLD!

Location: Tyler, Texas (100 miles east of Dallas)

I had posted this for sale, then retracted it a few months ago, but, after more reality checks from my wife and my job, I cannot keep it any longer.

Why would I sell such an awesome rig You ask.....

We have a 6 month old baby boy now, and my wife insists that I have the child seat latch loops in whatever vehicle I drive, so I must move to something newer. This is a tough time to sell this Landcruiser because I was in process of gathering and buying parts in plans of doing an LS engine swap and extreme upgrade on all components.

I am not going to be able to do the engine swap anytime soon, and I MUST HAVE a vehicle that I can clip a baby seat base into to carry my boy the way that momma insists on (and I can't blame her).

Ok, enough about why I need to sell it....

Here is some info on the truck and why I wish I could keep it!

Condition:

Very good. No dents whatsoever. Very few minor scratches. Was nicely repainted in 2008 and new weatherstripping was installed. There is no Frame or body rust that I have found anywhere that is more than just merely surface color rust on the frame and the only rust on anything painted is inside the doors near the seam sealer and it is surface color only where the seam sealer is cracked. This has always been a Texas Truck and was bought in Austin originally.

I was looking under the truck today (11/3/2013) and admiring how good the condition of the frame and body underside is still on this truck.

Interior:

All the gauges and switches work well. The power antenna goes up and down quickly and smoothly, the rear defrost works well, the rear washer and rear wiper also works well. The front wipers also work well and the washer does also.

The interior is all original or it has been replaced with NOS Toyota parts where necessary (new armrest console). Everything works properly. A/C was converted to R134A at a cost of over $1400 several years ago and still runs very cold!

The seats are in excellent condition and were either recovered in original fabric or they were VERY well preserved. No tears anywhere.

The headliner is excellent and was replaced in 2008 when the paint job was done.

I currently have an overkill stereo system that any audiophile could appreciate, especially if You don't like to just hear all bass when You are listening to your favorite music.

Very clean, simple install using a Pioneer DEH-80PRS head unit, A USA Made US AMPS 600de mono amp for the Morel 12 inch subwoofer that is installed in a custom built box that is mounted to the passenger's side rear quarter panel, replacing that trim panel but not sticking out past the wheel hump, and a US AMPS hybrid Tube amp AXTU300 2 channel for the front Morel Tempo components installed in special mounting rings that were mounted to the door panels (the windows roll down properly with these and they don't bother Your legs).

If I don't get my asking price for the wagon, I will want to remove my stereo setup.

The windows and locks all work and have been all used. I was going to do the relay trick for the window and lock motors like on the FAQ, but haven't gotten around to it. The driver's side window works very quick, the passenger's side works ok, and the rear two door windows are slower but do work fine and they always do work.

I recently had the windows tinted at a cost of $300 and they are legal on the front and a little darker on the back, but not too dark so as to cause You to back over stuff because You can't see it.

The original dash is cracked, but I am including a good used dash with no cracks with the truck.

The engine bay has a slightly rusted battery tray, but, I am including a brand new Stainless Trays battery tray and strap for a Group 65 battery. The current battery is not a group 65, but it is a newer Toyota battery and it has been holding up very well for starting and general use.

Exterior:

New replacement Japanese made taillight lenses with New Toyota NOS OEM rubber gaskets and Toyota NOS red side marker and yellow front side marker lenses and lights. New replacement Off-brand front yellow turn signal lenses from Australia that cost me over $250 alone!!!

I have over $600 in plastic lens replacement costs here!

Bought NOS OEM License plate light- chrome TOYOTA emblem for rear tailgate for $200 when I found one also...

Recently purchased and installed custom 4+ bumpers front and rear along with heavy duty Crosby Domestic made D-rings- $$$$$

Engine:

This engine is in excellent condition and doesn't smoke nor does it use oil. It had a tune up at 190,000 miles and it runs as good now as it did when it was tuned up.

I drive this truck extensively on the highway and I can average as much as 1000 miles a week at 70 mph!

The engine runs smooth and has very good power for a 3FE. All smog equipment is present and still functioning except for the cat converters which were removed because I thought it might help the fuel mileage (which it did add 1 mpg on average!).

I was going to do an engine swap because I am power greedy and I was wanting to tow some very heavy trailers with this rig at high altitudes.

Mileage showing is 216,xxx, but, that is because the speedo cable went bad and it took me a month to replace it with a new Toyota unit a little bit ago....

I have replaced the Fuel Pressure regulator, the Fuel pressure pulsation dampner, and the fuel filter.

ALSO, The radiator was replaced at around 190,000 miles I believe.

The temp never goes higher than a little above the first third of the gauge at low speed or at highway speeds.

Also, the underhood fan still works great and blows on the manifolds when the truck is shut down!

I have never had an issue with water in the tank or bad gas that I have noticed, and at 750-1000 miles driven a week sometimes, You know I would feel the difference!

I feel confident that this engine will honestly go another 100,000+ miles without issue or problems.

TRANSMISSION and DRIVELINE:

The trans was rebuild about 35,000 miles ago and has been acting flawlessly.

It shifts firmly and goes into gear well when cold or hot.

I installed a large Denso Toyota tranny cooler this summer for good measure and it definitely dropped the tranny temps by about 35-50 degrees.

The Axles are stock 4.11 gearing and work flawlessly. The front hubs turn smooth and with the proper amount of resistance and the work correctly.

The Transfer case works correctly and the 4wd button does engage the solenoids and turn on 4wd.

The front hub bearings do have a minor amount of wear and replacement will be necessary within the next 20,000 miles as recommended by an alignment specialist at Toyota.

The Tie rods and main drag link have been replaced recently also and everything on the steering is good and solid.

Brakes: The brakes are all stock and will be serviceable.

SUSPENSION WHEELS AND TIRES:

This truck has a Deluxe OME medium/light Dakar kit installed with the longer greasable shackles and OME shocks.

The wheels are aluminum UNIQUE brand 15 x 9's ( I think) and I am running BFG 33 x 12.5 x 15 All Terrains with 11/32 tread left.

The alignment is very good and I do not see any wear issues on the tires. I have been rotating them every 10,000 miles thus far.

The steering wheel is straight when driving down the road and the truck drives smooth going down the road.

SPARE/NEW/USED parts included

brand new Stainless battery tray and strap for a group 65 battery (not yet installed, current battery is a Toyota and not a group 65, but in good condition)

comes with a Good used brown dash with no cracks (current dash is cracked)

Intake/ exhaust manifold gaskets

Injector O-ring kits

More to come.....

I have a 3 ring binder full of receipts for labor and parts on the truck and some haven't even been added in yet.

Looks nice. More side and interior pics? Looks pretty clean!

Thanks for the compliments!

Yes, I am going to get some more pics ASAP.

I hadn't even washed it fora week when I took the pics above....

Beautiful 62. I understand her wanting child restraints for the baby carrier. If that is truly the only reason you're selling this incredible rig, by all means, put some bolts through the floor! Not sure if 60-Series have cargo hooks like 80's, 100's, etc, but if they do, there is one restraint anchor right there. I hope your wife has recovered and that she and the little one are doing well.

I'll get out of your business now. ;)

GLWS!

Thanks for the interest and kind comments to all!

Yeah, one of the first posts I ever made on mud was asking about any factory retrofits for safety latch points...

Needless to say, I have an extremely qualified, custom-race car builder friend who told me he wouldn't do it.

He said if something happened to one of my kids because of something that he built had failed, he couldn't live with himself, so he refused to do it. I know it could be made, but he is right... The what-if is the worry here...

Sorry for the slow pic progress! I got called to work 8 hours away from home and didn't get pics before I left...

posted some interior pics up on the first post.

I had it over at my Dad's shop and we performed an oil and filter change, lubed all chassis and suspension components...... I ran out of time and daylight too fast..

I haven't even got to wash the outside yet, to show what it really looks like.

I didn't even have time to clean any of the interior in it before the pics..... I am in for a whirlwind weekend before leaving again for work on Monday.

I just wanted to show that this is how I keep it all the time on the interior.

Sounds like you've made up your mind, but that's just silly. If done right, anchor points can be made far better than any vehicle's anchor points from the factory, and would not be cost-prohibitive at all. I understand the liability aspect, but from a physics perspective, this is a no-brainer and absolutely do-able. I have two precious little ones myself, and 100% understand the abundance of caution, but we are talking about a VERY easy mod here that you could have done and done so well that you will NEVER have to think about it again.

Thanks for the message, but yes, I have already made up my mind and actually purchased a 100 with the safety latching system.

Some may think I am being silly about this, but my wife, who loves me and trusts me fully said this to me " If You think You can make brackets that will work that is fine with me, I just hope nothing ever happens to those brackets that hurts the kids".

Knowing that there is a good amount of finite element analysis that goes into a factory car's safety latch system, I knew that it was beyond me or my friends ability to make a failure-proof design.

My wife also really loves our FJ62, but it just doesn't have the child and adult safety systems that the newer vehicles have. With her almost getting into a very bad accident, she knows it more now than ever that safety systems and child seat latches are very important.

The Beest is back! Welcome. :grinpimp:

Ahem, I'll avoid commenting on this issue, but TX:
Where did you get that rear bumper?
And, you need to slap up more photos- exterior, undercarriage, etc.

Hello 89GASHOG !

As for the rear bumper, it was custom made by David at 4+ for me without any swingouts.

I didn't want the swingouts because I do have to open my hatch and use it quite a bit, and I didn't want the spare tire holder blocking my rear vision through the back glass.

I have been extremely pleased with the quality and appearance of these 4+ bumpers.

As for more photos, I hope to get some this weekend and post them up. I haven't got to wash the minor road grime off yet and get her shined up, so I hate to post pics of a dirty ride!

As yet unwashed.......

posted pics of the underside and the sides on the first and second post where the pics are.....

These were all taken just a few hours ago.....

There is no true rust that I can find anywhere on the truck underneath or elsewhere.

Someone (Toyota?) put some kind of undercoating on the underside and everything seems to be holding up fine.

This truck has never been heavily mudded (never deeper than 3 or 4 inches of hard slimy clay mud usually) and just for work. I never did drive it in mud or rock crawl it for fun....

People take note, THIS is how to list a truck!

Thanks Dangler!!!

in truth, I usually do better than this, but my time has been so strained that it has taken me far too long to get pics up of everything.... I was in too much rush to list it before getting good and current pics

I am surprised that no one has came and bought this beautiful rust free example....

Bump!!!

Oh man, this thing looks awesome, very tastefully done! And I too almost felt guilty for driving my kids around in my 62 after reading this thread, but then I was behind a Yaris this morning and the carseat was almost touching the back window, so I felt better. This 62 has obviously been loved. I'd trade for mine but I can't make up the difference. Good luck sir!
