Posting up to see if there’s any interest. I’ve had this a little over 3 years. I’ve put around 1500 miles on it. It has 334 kilometers on the ODO (223k US). It’s the 12HT with a 5-speed. The PTO was removed by the previous owner in Japan. It’s had one repaint and has some rust coming through in areas. None of it has advanced since being in central TX the last 3 years. I put an OME lift on it as well as 5 new tires. I have 6ish 12HT’s in other vehicles here at my place and this by far runs better than any of them. Even my personal truck that has a new old stock 12HT with 23k on the ODO. Everything is set to factory specs and this is an unmolested truck. The 86 in the pictures without the flares...probably not for sale? Been looking for that exact truck for quite some time. I have 2 88's but can't seem to find the unicorn.

very good eye. It’s actually an 87 which is the last year of the round eye and square dash. That one’s a keeper though. Has the factory locked axles, suspension seats and a 5-speed. I do understand they are harder to find. Seems most 61’s out there are the later style.

Definitely a unicorn with the suspension seats. Man I would've put money on 86. I've only seen one 87 61 with round headlights. Must have been a half or transition year with very few produced.
Either way its a great looking truck. If you ever decide to part with it let me know. I'll put both my 88's up for sale. I deflared the one 88 but its still not the same without the round headlights.

So that’s what the title is. I’ll look at the build month/year and let you know what it says. This truck was imported into Saskatchewan in 2002, so it’s possible the year could have been inadvertently changed to 87

Maybe that could be it. I thought they switched to square headlights in 87 but I’m not 100% sure. I watch the auctions pretty regularly in Japan and I’ve only seen 86s with round headlights.

That's good to know swamprunner. I'm passively considering swapping this one to LHD. Will have a donor firewall off a euro 61 that I'm doing a tub replacement on. Have seen a few threads on this and the challenge is tempting me. Will let you know what I find on the build date. Thanks. Jimmy

Hey @swamprunner , so where is the build month and year on a 61? Could not find one on the B-pillar. It’s too muddy to walk back and look at the other two which are 88 models. I just assumed they had a plate similar to the 60’s on the B-pillar

Hey Jimmy,
Man I thought I was a glutton for punishment but you may have me beat. I could not imagine doing thar swap. I think the number of rhd has surpassed the lhd in my stable.
I’m left-handed so it just comes naturally to me to shift with that hand.
Anywho… as far as I know the build date is not on the jdm trucks. I have found mine using a jdm website and the tag on the fire wall.
