Hi ,
Getting dash pad repaired.
Do I have to take the actual dash board/speedo off to remove dash pad.
I have taken two screws off top of radio frame and side vents. Is there a thread on this or can anyone point me in the right direction?
Apologies if this subject has been covered already, but I cannot find the thread?
Many thanks

going from memory
there is 1 or 2 screws on the outside of the dash pad, when opening the door that need to be removed, all the ones above the heater controls, remove the glove box insert and I think there are a few in there, there are 4?or6? nuts along the windshield edge that need to be accessed thru the glove box area and the guage cluster area 2?or3? per side should be 10mm ratchet wrench works good
in the center of the pad there is a clip that does not get removed, it slides over a tab.
you'll need to disconnect the vent tubes

According to the FSM, there are 4 nuts from below, and 1 at each side vent near the doors. You'll need to remove the gauge cluster and glove box to access them all.

Thanks Guys, my pad is separate piece from the instrument cluster as per below, are you sure I have two remove the cluster panel?
Below is JP Parts ordering diagram for my model (INSTRUMENT PANEL & GLOVE COMPARTMENT / toyota | part list|JP-CarParts.com)
As you can see its different from the 60/62 FSM, I still cannot figure out how to get it out?

The cluster should be easy to remove, and I'd probably do it anyway just to give some room to work and not damage it.

Speaking from experience in a 60 dash, but I think the 62 is the same - just about everything about this dash is easy. No strange/hidden clips. Just screws and nuts.

Point taken and thank you. I will give it a go and see how I get on

Thanks guys for your help. Its out and off to be recovered or repaired, don't know yet!!!
I am off to put some plasters on my cuts😜

Thanks again.

Nice job, sir! I'm sure it seemed intimidating at first, but it all makes sense now that you've worked through it.

Yes, all made sense until I found this inside pad? Assume its a 24v to 12v convertor?
I have a JDM on 24v, doesn't seem to be connected to anything, although there are male ends loose where the radio was?
Everything was fine before, so I will leave it unplugged for the moment?

Thank you

How embarrassing, it’s a Technics speaker amp that I believe came with the VX model 🤗

Every days a school day, right!!!

hi, today i found the same technics amp in my car, someone know the diagram to connect to my new radio??

I guess your new radio will be a 12 v?. This amp is 24v on my HJ61 ? The connectors on the amp are designed to fit the original TO radio. I just took the amp out altogether and installed a new stereo system with a 24 to 12 v convertor? Not sure its worth converting this amp to 12 v?

Don't worry about its 24v or 12v, because is just the inlet volts that need to operate. Need more information about this Amp, like watts of power

Sorry, I have no data on the amp itself.

Holy crap there was a dash speaker??

Does anyone know the size?? Does anyone know if it was a separate channel off the radio or was just piggy backed off the passenger door?
