Last brackets made for the alubox. Also got the ARB awning brackets. Unfortunately the ARB black alubox awnings are still on their way from the dealership. They will not be here before the summer holiday, so the dealership got me a couple of awnings for free use - great service! I also got the Safari Snorkel mounted. Soon we will be ready for a trip to Norway :)

It has been a long time since I have posted any updates to my running HJ61. Since I changed most of the braking parts last year - I have been trying to figure out how to make the car have more breaking power. When it is fully loaded and ready for some overland it is not braking properly - my opinion.

So I have tried the newer TerrainTamer duel brake booster and a new mastercylinder upgrade. Wow! what a difference - that is super nice. It feels like a modern car - softer pedal feel, but much more braking power with much less pedalforce - I really like it!

You have to shorten the main pushrod and tread the pushrod M10x1.25. Also need to shorten the studs and the brake booster to the same length as the original BB.

It just fits in there next to the clutch mastercylinder :) and finally you have to bend the brake lines to fit the new setup - it is possible without fitting new brake lines. Lastly you also need to fit a new and longer vakuumhose. Bleed the system and that's it!

If I need it - I can also go for the newer 4runner calipers - I might consider that later on.

I installed a 4Runner brake booster, a master cylinder from a T100 (the precursor to the tundra in the US), and 4Runner brake calipers. I also replaced all the drum brake components and the soft lines. It made a huge difference. The only thing I can think that would be better is to use Tundra calipers, but that requires larger wheels and some other modifications.

Yeah - I do also like the idea of using original parts from the model - ordering hj61 brakespads and they fit. Imaging if the car shifts ownership and it is rebuild with all kind of different models 😅 but you right! It is worth the upgrade. Bigger wheels, more weight etc - needs more stopping power

I gave up on the idea of ever selling my truck. I told my friends to bury me in it when I die. Lol
If ever I do decide to sell mine the new owner can read my build thread to get all the details.
