I can’t figure out why the brake lights or staying on when I turn off the engine.? What am I looking for? Thanks in advance

maybe the switch up under the dash,
maybe the brake pedal may not be coming far enough back?

The most likely thing is the rubber stopper on the pedal has disintegrated and no longer is depressing the brake light switch. Follow the brake pedal up under the dash to find it. It may still be there or you’ll see a hole where it sticks into.

It’s a $2 part. 90541-06008

part still available from Toyota. 5 minute fix

You can tape a couple of nickels to the pedal for a temp fix.

what NearJetties said. you'll see the crumbly remains of the original one on your floorboard.
