SOLD! 1987 FJ60 Landcruiser - Mostly stock except for H55F tranny SOLD!

SOLD! SOLD! SOLD!

I have a 1987 FJ60, silver, mostly stock except for the H55F 5-speed transmission I had imported and installed. She has 205k on her engine, 15k on the H55F and clutch etc.

High gas prices and the 2008 financial crisis made me park her 3 years ago. I didn't plan on leaving her parked for so long, but I could never get enough extra cash to continue with my plans beyond the tranny swap. At first I would start her up every month or so and drive her around the neighborhood, but after a while I got too busy to even do that. Now it's been so long, I'm guessing she would need attention to her carb, and a gas tank flush at least. Helpful people here advised me to do a coolant system flush and to check all belts and change oil and tranny fluids.

Even though I said I would keep her forever and pass her on to my future children... I'm thinking about passing her on to a fellow FJ60 enthusiast who will be able to give her the life she deserves. Hopefully someone who I can buy her back from in a couple years.

The body is relatively straight, a few dings here and there but nothing major. I went to look her over and take some pictures, there's a little rust under the doors that I tried to show. A few spots here and there, but again nothing major. Dash has damage, seats have blemishes, but interior is complete. Back hatch only unlocks from the inside.

the good-- relatively straight and unmolested (original), and of course the H55F with papers from the import (brand new from the factory) and install in a shop

the bad-- parked for a few years, hatch only unlocks from inside, ripped dash and seats, crack in windshield

I'm not even listing her on craigslist yet because like I said, I want her to go to a fellow FJ60 enthusiast, someone who will appreciate her. Ideally, I'd like to stay in touch, so that if they ever decided to sell her... I could have a chance at buying her back.

To be honest, I'm not really sure what she's worth-- the transmission kit I bought goes for $2900 (that's what it's selling for today, I paid $1900 when I bought it), and I paid $885 for the install and the clutch kit etc... but on the other hand, she's not perfect, and she's been sitting for a few years.

Some of the helpful people here told me that she's probably worth $2k-$3k, maybe more depending on condition, so... $3,000 obo?

Truck is located in Federal Way, Wa.

Happy to answer questions and respond to offers.

Thanks!

EDIT: My situation has changed-- I'm losing my storage arrangement, so my cruiser needs to go to a new home A.S.A.P.! First person to show up with a decent offer takes her home. I hate to do it, but if she doesn't sell quickly this time, I'm going to have to put her on craigslist...

Please, fellow mudders... someone give her a good home!

I just realized I forgot to take a picture of the engine bay. Duh...

I'll try to get that added tomorrow or the next day.

3K is a steal for that truck with an H55f.

Thanks, El Jefe!

Do you think I priced her too low? I just went off what some of the fellas here estimated, pics unseen...

Something more important to me than the final price is that she go to someone who will appreciate her, and give her the life she deserves. I've never even taken her camping, and only used the 4x4 a couple times around town. Doesn't snow that much around here. I can feel her yearning for fresh air, or at least more of a life than just being parked...

Maybe the "or best offer" thing will go upwards, instead of downwards!

I don't think its too low; I am surprised it isn't sold yet. I don't have the extra cash for it, wish I did.
The wife and I are flying into seatac in a few weeks to visit her mom in Seattle. Hopefully I'll be able to see it cruising around.

Who did the install on the tranny?

That is a great price, no, really great price (based on the description)
I'm cruiser shopping and there are allot of great deals, but not much biting (I, for one, also not biting). Guessing the economy and the selection (buyers market?)

Maybe some cleaner shots of your cruiser and some more history of maintenance done by you or PO?
Video would probably help to outside buyers...just a suggestion.

GLWS!

Hey experts, how fixable is that dash tear, would it need a whole new one? I think I could handle the fix on the tailgate. I like this one but I'm waiting to hear back on another, should know by next week. Does it run now?

Thanks for the feedback guys, and apologies to all the senders of PMs that I took a while to reply to... like I said, been REAL busy these last few days!

I replied to all the PMs, but I'm going to repeat myself here in the thread at the risk of being redundant- for any people who might have had the same questions, but didn't ask...

I haven't even tried to start her yet- her battery is dead, and I don't have the money or time to do the other things I was told she needs. Like I said before, some of the helpful people here advised me that after sitting for so long she should have a coolant system flush, oil and tranny fluid change, drain old gas and add fresh gas, checking her belts and hoses, etc...

I really, REALLY wish I had the money to continue restoring her, but I don't, and it looks like it might be a year, maybe two, before I will be able to put any money into her. I don't even have the money or time to do the oil and tranny fluid change, much less the coolant system flush etc... That is what led me to making the difficult decision of passing her on to a fellow FJ60 enthusiast. I don't want her to fall any further into disrepair.

ElJefe-- the tranny install was done by Clary's Transmission in north Seattle, their address and phone number are in the invoice picture. CCOT(through Cruiserparts.net) shipped the 5-speed directly to them. I still have the stock 4-speed transmission as well, if whoever bought her wanted to maintain the "matching numbers vehicle" thing...

I'd love for you to come check out my cruiser while you're in town! but like I said, I don't think I'll have the money or time to address her "been sitting too long" issues... I, too, would like to see her cruising around.

Jgraphix-- I think you're right on the economy thing. I'm guessing that there are a lot of people like me, lean times lead to selling off toys, projects, etc... on one hand, it's awesome to look around and see so many cool cruisers- but on the other hand, I wish I had the money to maintain mine!

I'm going to try to get more pictures added in the next few days. It started to get dark out before I was done taking pictures the first time, you see the pics get progressively darker and darker... I'll add some better pics ASAP, focusing on the rust. I'll try to show the worst...

wygy-- I don't know how hard it would be to fix the dash, as you can see it goes right down to the metal. On the other hand, the tear is limited to just that corner... any experts?

Thanks again for all the feedback guys!

Let me know if there is any other info I can give...

Sorry for the absence...

For a few weeks, I was too busy with family and work stuff to deal with meeting people etc...

Then, for a few weeks, I was wavering on if I really wanted to sell her at all... thinking about just hanging on to her until I'm able to continue the build...

But the bottom line is that she'd be sitting for another year or more, and I don't want her to disintegrate. So I'm back, and I'm ready to meet/sell. It's best for her.

Again, I would really prefer to sell to someone relatively local. I would like to stay in touch and have first crack if you ever decide to sell.

Sorry again for taking so long to reply to everyone.

Here's those pics I promised way back when, of the doorjambs, and the beginnings of rust that I'm worried about...

This one is dark, my apologies... not trying to hide anything, there's a bit of rust there like the other side. It's parked in shadow, and my flash wasn't doing anything...

As you can see, there's a bit of rust starting in a few of the usual places. That's why I don't want to leave her on hold for another year or two.

Someone please give my cruiser a good home!

Huh, that amusing bump pic ain't working... let's try this-

...so this summer was really nice and mellow, and it stretched into a nice dry fall. Then the rain started a few weeks ago, and since then it has been raining almost every day.

Someone please rescue this cruiser before she starts to rust!

I don't want her to end up like this---
