This seems like as good a thread as any to ask this question. I see on the Holley site they now have small and large bore units that look like they might be very close to the stock size and shape of the original carb. Looking at the application list I see some old school V8's on there that I imagine have similar characteristics to the 4.2 inline 6.

I suspect a call to Holley is in order but curious on the converts here?

They keep developing the line with new sniper products! The first thing I see here is the need for a new intake adapter. We’ve all been using the 2300 because it used the same adapter as the 2300 carb from Holley and people have e been putting those on 2fs for awhile. The small bore looks to be designed for the old Rochester carbs so it would need a different mounting solution. However, I hope somebody can get their hands on one to do some testing........( @FJ60Cam ) It will be cool to see how it fits.

There’s two smaller ones out, but they have a smaller bolt pattern than the LC intake manifold. The air cleaner neck would still need an adapter to run the stock air cleaner as well.

The rest of it is spec’d for the same HP as the 2300 unit.

So no real benefit to using that one.

700 mile road trip down this weekend to Arkansas for eh Cruiser Crawl and the truck ran great. I also pulled a trailer with my tent never felt it back there... it also came back loaded down with a full float OEM rear axle rebuilt by @orangefj45 and a Harrop elocker! I also snagged an OEM lsd that will be going in the front.

It was just me and my 4 year old this weekend and he was a trooper even with the 35 degree nights!

Great to see you!

The CRAWL never dissapoints

:)

Georg @ Valley Hybrids & Cruiser Brothers

You too! Thanks for the great work on the axle, can't wait to get it in.

Anybody looking for a FF rear axle @joekatana just listed one! These things are hard to find and this one has the OEM LSD in it. I hope somebody grabs it fast. If I wasn't just hooked up on mine I would be all over it.

I bought one from hims last year. Bolted right in I pulled the LSD and plan to install it in the front and an Harrop in the rear. So it will be good to hear your opinion of them.

Harrops are amazing. I put front and rear in my 80 and have had zero issues. I searched out the ff axle just to install the Harrop I like them that much. I have a factory LSD that will be going in the front as well. So, sounds like we are going to be running the same setup. Mine will have 4.1 in anticipation for the 5 speed swap coming soon.

So, I haven’t been doing much wrenching on the 60 just been driving it! Rear axle will go in when I get my Front lsd setup. So I have a little time. I added some minor touches today. A Witts End fire extinguisher mount to the drivers side and a new hi-lift mount from 4X4Labs’s. I did read some reviews where people stated the fire extinguisher mount sticks out to far. For the 60 not at all. I have one on my 100 as well and it’s much further. Also mine doesn’t interfere with lever either like some have stated.

Then I took it to the shooting range at deer camp, hit a soft spot and sunk the drivers side up to my sliders... however a little back and forth with the km3s slinging mud and we became unstuck pretty quick.

What is the benefit of this??? Thanks!!

there’s a lot of debate on semi float vs full float out there and what’s stronger, however, my want was simple. I wanted to install a Harrop e-locker because I loved the set on my 80. Harrop does not make a locker for a semi, so it’s source hard to find full float 60 axle or modify 80 axles. 60 axles you don’t have to worry with tire spacing, you keep all of you normal 60 rear end stuff etc.

Room the 60 on another 150 plus road trip and hit some sand dunes today! Sniper is still running flawless. Thanks @wngrog for the shots.

Wish I knew what ANY of this means....but I don't 😂😆😀🤣😅😃😀😃😀

When a C-clipped axle breaks the axle will come out of the axle tube, then rendering your vehicle useless. You would need to carry a spare when wheeling for both side (mainly long).
With a full floater, if the axle breaks it stays in the tube as it is bolted to the rear axle hub. That said, you should still remove the broken part (which can be a PITA) , but unlike a C-clipped axle you can get off the trail and fix the issue to get you home (slow but home) or onto a trailer.

How often does an axle break.....who knows but it will happen. I put one in my 60 simply as I wanted locker flexibility and I also wanted to make damn sure I would make it out of the bush if I ever broke one.

Yes you can carry a spare C-clipped axle and there are heavier duty ones you can get. Concidering the situation you may be in when the axle breaks, being able to limp off the trail is a major plus and that is much harder with a C-clipped axle.

Also supposedly they are for heavier weight, but that is debatable.

Ahhhh...so, mainly a 4 wheeling/off road concern. Gotchya... Thanks
