I agree with you but unfortunately BAT has proven time and time again to be the best ROI for a FJ.

Yep - sold mine to a flipper. He convinced me he would be a good steward, after I owned it for 45 years. Flipped it in a couple of months.
Expect it to end up on BAT.

I actually talked this seller about another 45 he had last year. Super nice guy, very accommodating I just didn't need another one. Maybe BaT is an easier sell also then dealing with some on mud.

I also felt burned on my 82 40 series, seller told me he was going to keep it for his own, few minor repairs and it was up for sale again. I would never had sold it had I known. .

BAT has unfortunately gone from auctioning off projects and more affordable vehicles for most people to only wanting higher end cars. They are after all an auction company and seeking the best returns for their auctions. As I’m sure you know profits are better with a higher priced car. In business I’d rather have a little of a lot than a lot of little.

I’d be willing to bet they turn down hundreds/thousands of cars daily/weekly for auction. This would then give them the ability to only choose what they want based on recent market performance. They have access to be able to somewhat forecast (in the past 8 yrs since staring auctions) vehicles that preform well. Ultimately netting them an higher percentage from vehicles that actually sell. Knowledge is power.

There’s various factors I’ve seen from:

-There’s to many of the same vehicle in the que.
-The vehicle is overpriced or seller expects to high of a reserve. Or BAT doesn’t have the knowledge to know it’s an acceptable reserve.
-It’s not a popular car
-There’s more….

At the same time they also have denied some vehicles that should have been on BAT (in my humble opinion). So even BAT might miss a deal or 10. They simply can’t know all the minutiae of all the vehicles they are offered to auction. But again they make up for it in volume.
