When I am in a parking lot I am always told that I left my land cruiser running. I live in the south, do I need the cooling fan? Just for the summer? Or don't really need it? If not just unhook the fan?
Definitely is a hot weather help… I have seen many taken off in the upper north east … most put a manual switch in the engine compartment … long drives and hot and lean make for a nice boiling carb
Unplug it and drive it and see difference in hot starts (if any). I notice a major difference but that’s dependent on your average ambient temperature. If you live in an area that gets warm, it’s a great addition.
The usual mantra here…..Toyota doesn’t engineer and install parts on a whim, it’s there for a reason. USA trucks are loaded because they need to adhere to emissions and the fan helped with hot starts starting in ‘76.
Fully desmogged and well tuned? Yea you wouldn’t need it per say but when it’s very hot out - it makes a drastic difference.
