1981 40 EGR temp sensor in cat ?

I have a 1981 FJ40 and the EGR temp sensor was cut out of the old cat to put in a new cat. Toyota no longer makes it? Where do I get a new one, and does it go in front of cat or in back? Anyone have the emissions manual? Is it necessary to have? Thanks in advance... Jason
