I’m sticking with the stock beige on mine, when I paint it. The wife wants something “else.” I’m stead fast on this, so she keeps “suggesting”. Then the other night she mentioned some sort of striping, then this thread pops up with this pic:

This idea I like, perhaps I can meet her on the middle. So I don’t know anything about paint: what does this entail? Presumably these were put on after paint, but could I apply it before the clear? Are they readily available or is each decal custom?

Apparently they did this in 1979 during the gas crunch to catch someone’s eye. I guess it worked, my uncle bought it new in 79.

Original thin pinstripes, must have been a dealer add on

What a radical thread. This beast popped up on my google today. Got me pinin’ for retro graphics again. Never seen this color striping before, but looks pretty sweet. Then again anything would on
that.

my bro just shot me this pic. Gotta b a mudder. Beautiful rig and killer stripe. Simple but retro, fits the 40, and the way it runs onto the hood with the "4x4" section. would love some info/history on the stripe if its yours...

This is my OEM decal set on my JDM BJ44... I am going to be painting it and fixing the rust but I want to add back the decal but in an yellow to orange to red scheme instead of the maroon to gray that this was originally...

I think the detail on these was pretty awesome as it three different widths and a thin knockout line between colors....

Here is a picture of Miss Scarlet that the OP's daughter sent me. She is a 1982 and the photograph was probably taken a few years after he bought it.

Here is a picture of our 1978 purchased new. We really liked the stripe job.
