That was a lot of money back then. They're cheaper now if you buy them used. You couldn't find them second-hand back then, but they're pretty plentiful now.

In 1974 Downey was in the back of the Toyota dealership in Downey, CA and sold OEM parts as well as aftermarket. In the 1974 catalog a complete PTO winch for $440. Looking on eBay the prices are thru the roof for beat up, modified and not complete used OEM winches.

When I opened in 1990, I ordered two OEM dropgates. They retailed for $110. I paid $68 for my OEM wiring harness.
