Injector gasket new.jpg

My injection pump must have been gunked up.

I dont think so. If it was full of gunk and you added a diesel cleaner, it would have ended up in your injectors. Its likely the the liqui moly additive has cleaned up the rings and bores and you are getting better compression.

Burning something in the combustion chamber cleans the rings?

Yes apparently, some of it probably leaks down or touches the bores while the piston is at the bottom of the stroke. He has rebult injectors so it wouldnt have cleaned an already clean injector.
They claim it leaves a coating of Moly Sulphide? on the bores and anything it touches.
Which makes you wonder what happens when it falls off :meh:

From the Liqui moly Australian site

It removes deposits from injectors, piston rings and combustion chamber which restores power, improves fuel economy but also provides smoother running and reduces smoke and soot emissions

I used it once on my HZJ75 ute, but it didnt make any difference, probably because it was running ok.
