I had a shop in Miami install an air condition, electric power steering, and a radio on my 1978 Toyota HJ45 diesel truck and now the battery won’t stay charged because the alternator cannot keep up with the electrical draw from the accessories. The installing shop did not know that they needed to upgrade the alternator and I did not think of it either. I am now trying to find a solution but there are not high capacity alternator with vacuum pump options available. I’ve now invested $15K more into my truck and can not even drive. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you!

Maybe a dual alternator setup is the solution to your problem.

You might try the diesel forum.
