So... I gots a Leaking Rear output Shaft / along with some strange scraping...

Upon disassembly of the parking brake and speedo housing... there appears to be a THIN "O" SHIM there .

None of the tech / service books appear to have this in there... its like 1-2 MM +/- thick

Can anyone tell me what this is for ? Why it is there? Might be the sound of my scraping noise....

Is the shim on the brake drum shaft? It may have been an attempt to space the brake drum further out and allow the seal to ride on an undamaged surface. Can you show a pix?
