1978 FJ40, newbie owner here.

Original issue, for the knowledge base:
...the gauges on the bottom row of the instrument cluster started dropping out shortly after starting the vehicle. When they stop working the turn signal (indicator) stops working as well. If the bottom row doesn't stop working immediately, then it stops working once the turn signal lever is applied.

Shawn (referred in the NJ clubhouse by @Dirty Koala ) was able to quickly diagnose and address the issue. Repair / Service Description:
Repair Gauges. Trace cluster issue to wire harness feeding instrument cluster. Remove wire harness/resize terminals and clean all connections and grounds.

I probably should have been able to diagnose and repair this one myself. So, thought I'd post the symptoms and diagnosis for the next person. Thanks to @Dirty Koala for the referral to Shawn at Long Hill Auto Service, NJ.
