Got my 75 i saved from being parts on ebay runnin again but...

It starts GREAT with the manual choke closed....idles nice but soon as you open the choke it wants to die...even if you give it throttle

This was "partially desmogged" when I got it and I, along with my friend Tom with his 78, attempted to reconnect and disconnect what seemed to make sense and match his as close as possible...

but it still dies with an open choke....even once pretty warm too

the 2 ideas ive heard/think so far are vacuum leak or internal carb probs................any ideas?

Most likely you have a vacuum leak. And it sounds like a BIG leak.

Another reasonable possibility is a non-functional idle fuel cut off solenoid.

Ala Pin_Head, you need 12 volts at the solenoid on the back side of the carb. Normally would come from smog comp., so maybe it's not working. You could give it keyed 12 volts w/o having to go thru the computer

Ya im gonna check some more into it monday when i get back to the shop
