Hey guys,
Newbie here from Los Angeles. Glad to be a part of the forum.
I just bought a 1974 FJ40 (Originally sold as 1975 with an F2 engine, but my investigation revealed otherwise!)
Anyway, live and learn.
It is completely original, F engine has 60K miles. The previous owner just added front disc brakes.
The goal is to make it close to pristine by myself (but not museum quality) and go camping with our 69' Airstream twice a year
Questions:
1) Do you guys know a great body shop for this baby in SoCal? It needs a few sheet metal work, some dings here and there; and a new paint.
Both doors don't seem to be straight anymore, leaving a huge gap.
2) The white top needs to be replaced, it is disintegrating with rust! Any clue where to find one?
2) Which websites do you guys use for OEM parts? aftermarket parts?
3) I need to adjust/re-jet the carburetor, is it the same way than with the F2 carburetor using a tachometer and a pressure gauge? I'm way too rich; choke kills the engine and there is a bog while revving at low RPM.
Thanks for your precious help!
