1974 fj40 f1.5 starter dragging (1 Viewer)

My starter began dragging and the death came after installing the new one bolted in and connected up fired it up but the dragging continued, having no electrical testors to check draw or anything so i arc'd across the contacts and it turned over like i would expect it too ????? Any suggestions
