As I am new to refurbishing a 45 year old FJ; I recently discovered that my glovebox compartment was rusted out. Any ideas on how to repair this? It seems necessary since bracked for the heater duct would attach to it that is if it existed.

It is a simple box spot welded to the back of the dash panel and the firewall. You would have to get up under there with a die grinder to remove the welds and remainder of the rusted out box then spot weld the new box in. This one is currently for sale on a popular auction site... (not mine or affiliated). You can see where the spot welds are.
