1972 Land Cruiser for sale by owner.
$18,000.
Beautiful Southern California truck that I would not hesitate to drive anywhere. Original 1F motor. Runs, drives and stops great.
Comes with hard top (not installed), full doors (not installed), tube doors from MetalTech (still in packaging) and bikini top.
I maintained this truck with an open checkbook in the six years I've owned it. I even flatbedded it up to LA on several occasions so it could be worked on by a Land Cruiser specialist in Los Angeles, Mark's Off Road (Marks Off Road Home Page). Great mechanic, by the way.
Mark did a 4 speed conversion, 4 wheel disc brake conversion, rebuilt the steering box with a new shaft tube, installed two (used) Conferr boxes under the jump seats and a ton of other work.
The Truck Shop in San Diego just put a brand new exhaust on it last week. Sounds great.
I have the original PTO Winch as well. It works perfectly but Mark removed it when he did the 4 speed swap.
Bed-lined interior (gray).
Oxide Yellow acrylic enamel; original color was red.
Custom roll cage.
Stock bench seat and jump seats completely refurbished and in great shape.
Toyota seatbelts.
Very cool lockable "dash-box" - great mod which I use all the time.
Full carpet kit from Specter (the center carpet piece had an extra hole for the PTO handle which was removed during 4 speed swap so I took carpet out).
Wiper motor does not work. It worked when I bought it but I just tried it today and it was dead. Living in San Diego this wasn't a big deal for me since this truck has literally never been in the rain since I bought it.
5 31x9.5x15” BFG A/T tires.
Powder-coated stock wheels w/ hubcaps
All rubber is great shape (windshield cushions, blinkers, emblems etc).
Bilstein shocks on all 4 corners.
SOR 2” lift.
Aftermarket altimeter & tachometer.
New felts and weatherstripping for hard top.
New nuts and bolts almost everywhere.
Toyota Manuals (F engine, 72-74 repair chassis and body).
SOR emission control repair manual & Haynes manual.
Two sets of sideview mirrors (one for use when doors off; one for use when doors on).
All glass is perfect.
Manual steering with original steering wheel. Very easy to drive with that big wheel so I never felt the need to do the power steering conversion.
Front and rear heater work great.
Optima battery.
Tons of receipts.
Owners manual.
The odometer does not work, stopped at 138K.
Starts up every time and runs great.
Clean title, and pink slip in hand. It's never been a real “wheeler” as evidenced by the lack of dents or any significant scratches on the underbelly. I took it out to Anza Borrego twice (see my profile pic) but since I have my 100 series, it didn't see any off-roading beyond that.
Have left over paint for everything.
I bought it from a friend of mine six years ago who bought it from a guy in Murrieta (if he is on Mud, I hope he chimes in) who meticulously went through this 40 from front to back, minus removing the car from the frame or pulling the engine. He spent a ton of cash (receipts total more than 10k) and Lord knows how many hours getting this truck squared away. I have also spent a ton of money upgrading this truck with an eye toward keeping it forever.
Is it a garage queen? Nope, there are a few scrapes here and there which I tried to document but it is a super solid, no surprises truck.
So why am I selling? My daily driver is a built 100 series and I also recently acquired a '34 Ford pickup which has been in my wife's extended family for over 30 years. I'm just not driving the 40 as much as it deserves.
$18,000. Not interested in any trades. Are there cheaper trucks out there? Absolutely, but if you want something that needs nothing and is ready for years of trouble free use, this is the truck for you.
Inspections encouraged.
Feel free to text/call me at 858-337-09 three four.
Thanks.
Dan
