I'm finally getting around to rebuilding my 1972 FJ40 3 Speed Transmission and Transfer Case and I think my transfer case low speed output gear (OEM # 36204-60010) might be toast. The gear teeth look fine but the bushing is cracked and where the gear is riveted together there is a little play between the two pieces. Is it normal to have a tiny bit of movement between the two pieces? The gear is also discolored as if it was extremely hot at some point. The previous owner used the vehicle as a snow plow for about five years until he blew up the engine so it's likely that the low gear has seen extreme conditions.
