1971 Fuel Tank Leaking (1 Viewer)

The fuel tank on my 71 fj40 is leaking (rust through). Does anyone have any suggestions for replacement tanks?

ccot, Manafre or buy one used off a member, no actual experience with poly tanks just complaints about them not working...

If you have the money, buy a new one.

OR

For a temp fix that may last for years: Clean the tank throughly of all rust where the leak is then use a fiberglass repair kit to patch it. My repair has lasted for 5 years with no leaks yet! See my web site for details.

SOR is always a source. Appears actually cheaper than CCOT. Have never heard anything good about poly. Anyway

I would check Toyota just to verify its not still available. I've found them to be very competitive with available parts and the club or TLCA discount.....

Not knowing if the bottom's totally gone either boil it out, patch it & buy the gas tank kit from POR or Eastwood or find a good used one off the For Sale section. Just to be sure the used tank is leak free, I'd do the same treatment with either kit. I prefer not to buy the poly tank replacement from LC vendors.
