This 1971 FJ40 is a beast of a machine with wonderful vintage details intact, and perfect for someone who wants a head-turning rig to cruise around town and hit the trails.
I'm not using her as much as I should, so I feel she should go to someone who will appreciate her and keep her on the road....can't let a classic like this sit in the driveway.
1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 info/modifications:
CA registration current, smog exempt, title in hand
Original IL6 3.9L F-155 engine
Three-speed on the column, shifts well
Working 4WD
Spring-over-axle suspension conversion lift, Rancho shocks (suspension could use work)
Aluminum rims, 285/75R16 tires
Power brakes, front disc brakes
New battery
EMPI carburetor/electronic choke
Replaced exhaust manifold/header gasket
Manual steering, rebuilt steering box
Alternator replaced
Rebuilt radiator
Water pump replaced
Stainless steel oil lines
Replaced dash cover (OEM part from Specter Off Road)
Working heater (no A/C per original specs—but ya got the kick vents and windows, old-school style!)
Custom full roll bar
Paint in original color (Spring Green)—repaint approx. 10 yrs ago
Headlights, rear interior light, turn signals not working (except front passenger side), likely a fuse box/wiring issue. Were all working until recently (fuses have been replaced). Brake lights work.
Fuel/ampmeter working; oil/temp gauge recently stopped working. Also likely a wiring issue.
Installed front driver and passenger four-point harness belts (have original lap belts)
Rear 1-passenger jumpseats with seatbelts (lap belts) (believe the seats are not original—installed to fit between full roll cage bars)
Replaced weatherstripping
Repaired hydraulics for flip-up rear window hatch
Windshield wiper motor works, but wipers aren’t installed (have OEM wipers)
Rubber floor mats
Lock box under driver’s seat
Original body decals intact
Original steering wheel, front bench seat, vinyl upholstery in excellent condition
Hi-lift jack mounted on front bumper
Minor surface rust—no major rust issues—body overall in great condition.
Odometer stopped working at ~46000 mi—I’ve put about 1500K miles on it since purchase in 2011. Otherwise miles unknown.
Have receipts for work done—all at K & H Land Cruiser Specialists (down the street from Specter Off Road)
