****SOLD****
up for sale is my 1970 Fj55. clean California title, non-op registration with no back fees.
it is a rolling chassis project. you may not find a cleaner platform to build on....ever...no joke. I bought this as a project to build as I could not pass this up. at this point I will not have time or money that this pig deserves. When I bought it, it had been garaged for 15 years. the previous owner was a Toyota mechanic in the bay and bought it from original owner he stated.
the body is next to immaculate and had been taken down and re painted several years ago, including the frame. the frame and engine compartment were painted with aircraft protectant paint and is in great shape. no rust on the frame at all.
there is no drivetrain. the mounts for the drivetrain have been converted to GM v8 mounts with auto transmission crossmember and are ready for a chevy drivetrain. the axles are: front dana 44 and rear dana 70. they have been narrowed to stock width which was lame! but would be perfect to sell to a jeep guy and put something else under. the front had shackle reversal done and has 55" springs, the rear has 63" chevy springs. all have new bushings.
the body is complete and has VERY VERY LITTLE rust. just some very small spots on the lower passenger door and sill. roof and gutters are near perfect and the only real rust is on the drivers floor pan which is surface rust only. rear seat is intact and decent shape. no front seat. the headliner lterally looks facvtory new and has not been replaced AFAIK. windows and rubber are excellent. passenger rear door will need a latch rebuild but all work. tail gate and glass are excellent and intact and the motor works when last tested. rear carpet still there from factory and looks very good. dash pad is perfect. there are a couple parts on the dash that were removed at the heater/stereo so that needs attention. center hump is there. behind the hump was cut out for the transmission but I have it to weld back if desired. no instrument cluster. have factory steering wheel and a tilt wheel if you want it. have an aftermarket fuel tank that just needs cleaning.
pretty sure I have all of the small parts but there may be a couple missing pieces.
this is an amazing cruiser for a build as it has probably the best bones you will find and no frame restoration and almost no body restoration except for the very small couple spots. add your GM drivetrain and some sweat equity and this cruiser will be one of the better ones out there. I would not sell it but have realized that I wont have time for the next several years to touch it which is a shame for this pig.
I am asking $4kish for it OBO. a lot? maybe..... but consider that you have no frame work or body rot to take care of aside from a couple superficial spots and I would challenge you to find a cleaner platform anywhere and the fab work is done for you for the v8 swap already. My plan was to put a vortec LQ4/auto in it which can be had for a very reasonable price all day long. feel free to make an offer if you're serious, but keep in mind that this is not a fire sale and I do not need to sell it at all.
heck! Ill make a package deal for my FJ60 which is also for sale and you could build the best 55 ever with a 383/nv4500/toy box/split case, 60 axles, arb's, 488's....wooot!!! check my sig line for that one.. its for sale in the 60 seires classifieds
I have a lot of photos and can email them upon request.
