This may not be the right forum, but trying to avoid all the “I’ll give you $2000 right now” posts I’d likely get in the classified forums.

It’s with a heavy heart (and a pocketbook that will never be thick enough) that I have decided to part with my 69 FJ40 so that it may go to someone who can properly care for it

Looking to the experts here to help determine what a fair asking price should be.

Was running when parked two years ago when the clutch fluid was to low to move (losing it somewhere).

It has been kept/stored indoors for 14 of the last 15 years, but as you can see in the pics rust is starting to show in several places.

As far as I know it has the original engine with 3 speed trans. Power steering, all the carpet, and everything else was added by PO, I’ve done nothing but change the starter.

If I were you, I would spend $10 in brake fluid and and spend 30 min of work bleeding the clutch to get it to roll. I would then spend a weekend and less than $100 getting the thing to run again. The machines are very simple. It will probably just need new gas and a new battery. If you can do that, you just doubled the value of the vehicle.

At minimum, spend a couple hours and clean it really well. That alone helps the value.

If you don't want to do that, take some more pictures of the underside, the frame, the axles, any pictures of rust/rot. The more pictures, the more accurate of a value someone could throw out. There are a lot of variables involved. Not trying to be rude, but just because you say that it was running when parked, doesn't mean someone will believe you. If I had a dollar for every time I heard that story, I would have a lot of dollars.

Do As others have said, and get that carpet out of there too. A little effort will net more dollars.
