Rebuilt a 1969 FJ40 fuel pump. it works great but now it has a oil leak from the plunger pivot. the rebuild kit did not come with side seals for this area. it also looks like it isnt meant to come apart there either. has anyone run into this?

there IS a reason TOYOTA does NOT sell the fuel pump rebuild kits any longer and thats a big reason why ..........

Agree with Matt: the 73-77 fuel pump is the best long-term solution.

Agreed, located at 74 pump which has a thicker mounting flange with pressed in balls at the pivot. disassembled and completely cleaned, swapped my rebuild parts in and oil leak was gone. complete dry engine now. thanks for the info gents!

Matt, that would have been the way to go before buying a rebuild kit. that's a good deal for a new updated pump!
