My good friend went through my carb with me and I had this “solenoid” with broken wires on it. What does it do, and what is it called?

Disconnect and cap both ends of the carb.

With a DOA 50 year old secondary diaphragm, it’s still a glorified one bbl carb. IIRC, I posted some new diaphragms in the classifieds afew months ago.

I was able to find a Standard Motor Products by Hygrade TY160126 that worked and the linkage arm matched. A straight arm game out and went in.

I left the float that was in there, it looked perfect. The Standard motor Products ended up being Hygrade FL31 and made in Japan for $5

Thanks. That’s good to know that it’s not needed.

Nothing looked that bad in this carb aside form a very nasty bowl. 1 hour of soaking and it all came clean.
