Those tail lights are beautiful. I would be trying my damn hardest to hammer that rear valance out straighter though!
The problem then you get into the tailgate not closing good.

I got a lot of it pulled out. It was way worse.

I’ll get a pro to look at it at some point and see if they have a few tricks

Yes, I’ve done 3 builds with that tire. All the owners love them.

If I had disc brake Steelies on this truck I may have considered them but we had to buy wheels.

With current price of Toyota Steelies plus $100 each to powdercoat them the City Racer wheels are not a really big splurge.

Here is a couple of the ones with the Kenda. Perfect choice for OEM chrome and 40 hubcap wheels.

They are just a hair shorter than the Yoko 255/85-16

Mine had these Kenda tires when I bought the my 40 but I love them. I actually just recently bought a spare as mine did not have one. They seem closer to 10 wide over the 9.50 they say but they are pretty awesome. I think I would choose these again if I were to put new rubber on a fj40. I am actually going to put new rims on my cruiser at some point as these ones are crusty. I am planning on just going factory 15 inch again though. Maybe paint them with that gray thats on the green one you have. Also I love the 45 trucks I have always said they are my dream land cruiser. the early fj40 I have now comes close but the trucks are soo cool I think. I love seeing the pics of these on instagram and Mud!

I’ve not spent much time on LPBlue the last couple days. Waiting on a pallet from Georg and it’s on.

The Wizard came out with his hammer and dolly and determined this metal memory is just to work hardened. Any further manipulation is going to damage paint and such.

This old fella tells a hell of a story ….@megolfer did you actually buy it from the original owner? You think he is still kicking? I’d love to hear some of the stories behind the dents in this thing

I took a long look at these tires in the 35x10.50x17 size but I could never get any long term reviews on tire life.

I love the looks of 45s, but sadly me being 6’5” prevented me from enjoying the HJ45 I had for a short time.

I jumped back and forth from the two 45s today. When I stalled out on the SWB I dove into the LPB.

I ripped out the front axle and whipped stock springs and got the Dobinsons and “new” housing in place with some 4* caster shims

Spent the morning harvesting some rear inner axles since the ones in 1967 were 10 spline and the 3.70s going in are 30

Also burned off some waste CA oil in the CA smudge pot

Turns out these semi float rear bearings are different than the ones I have here so the rear is on hold until the correct ones arrive from @cruiseroutfit

Meanwhile the suspension is in place.

I clearanced the housing for the big Birfs. This tool makes short work of it

Then I went to work adding new body mounts to the bed. The FJ40 kit has just enough to do the bed. The cab mounts are still solid. This was the same as my LPB. Seems this cloth dies over time.

All set. The bed was basically metal on metal on 6 of the 10

No pallet today so I went ahead and made/mated up new brake and clutch lines.

Nothing very exciting here except all the 9mm/drum brake crap is gone. That’s a win all the way around

Did you save the 9mm fittings and splitters? I would gladly take them if they're getting scrapped. Trying to keep a couple 9mm equiped rigs original (40 and stout).

I have some here. Remind me.

I’m tapping my feet for my pallet.

Meanwhile I set aside an hour to unpack the steering parts from @cruiseroutfit

They are screwing with me at this point …..

My buddy from Canada Dan Martz hooked me up with a 70 series rear tire mount. I learned my lesson on the Goat to mount these full driver side or all you see when you are backing a trailer is a tire.

Also Lois C just had a fresh batch of Acorns produced. They came in as well
